13 Days to Escape: How to Move the Toilet in Your Cell
Move the toilet in your cell in 13 Days to Escape with a Screwdriver: unscrew the bolts, move it aside, and jump into the tunnel opening it reveals to keep your escape going.
Quick answer
Return to your cell, crouch at the toilet base, use the Screwdriver to 'Unscrew' the bolts, then choose 'Move aside'. The toilet moves aside and reveals a vertical tunnel opening in the floor — the entrance to the escape route.
- Needs: a Screwdriver in your inventory, used in your own cell
- Get it: OJ sells a Screwdriver for 25 cash during RECREATION TIME
- Unlocks: a vertical tunnel opening in the floor that leads into the escape tunnel
- Next: jump into the tunnel and drill through the dirt walls with a Power Drill
Get a Screwdriver from OJ first
The unscrew interaction needs a Screwdriver in your inventory, and the game builds that purchase into the early route. During RECREATION TIME, OJ sells a Screwdriver for 25 cash. Buying it changes your objective to "Unscrew the toilet", which appears in the objective panel at the top right of the HUD, sitting under the standing "Don't get suspicious" reminder. That panel placement tells you something useful: the toilet is not a hidden secret, it is a tracked story objective on the escape route.
If you are short on cash when RECREATION TIME comes around, the money guide covers ways to earn more, and OJ's deals shop lists what he sells. RECREATION TIME is one of the prison's scheduled periods; the day and night cycle guide explains how the daily timetable fits together.
In the Day 1 run this route was observed in, the whole chain — buying the Screwdriver during RECREATION TIME, then unscrewing the toilet back in the cell — happened on the first day.

How to move the toilet
With the Screwdriver in your inventory, go back to your cell and work through four actions:
- Return to your cell. The toilet interaction takes place in your own cell.
- Crouch at the toilet base. Position yourself down at the base of the toilet.
- Unscrew the bolts. Use the Screwdriver and pick the "Unscrew" option to remove the bolts holding the toilet in place.
- Move aside the toilet. Choose "Move aside" to shift the toilet out of its spot.
The moment the toilet moves, it reveals a vertical tunnel opening in the floor.
What moving the toilet unlocks
The opening is the entry point to the tunnel part of the escape. Jump into it, and to get any further you need a Power Drill: holding the drill and pressing and holding the left mouse button drills through the dirt walls, carrying the escape onward.
The drill does not have to cost you anything, either. In the Day 1 run this route comes from, a free Power Drill was sitting on a workbench in the marked workshop — the one with yellow-black hazard markings behind the cell block — reached by climbing out through the cell window during LOCKDOWN. That timing wraps neatly around the toilet task: get out during LOCKDOWN, pick up the drill, return to your cell, unscrew the toilet, and drop straight into the tunnel with the drill already in hand.
Both tools are covered in more depth in the tools guide. For what waits deeper down, see the tunnels guide and the digging guide, and the full walkthrough follows the entire Day 1 escape step by step. The suspicion guide explains the "Don't get suspicious" objective that stays pinned over your task list the whole time.
