13 Days to Escape Tunnels Guide: How to Open the Cell Toilet Tunnel

Last updated:

How to get into the tunnel under your cell toilet in 13 Days to Escape: unscrew the bolts with a screwdriver, move the toilet aside, then drill through the dirt with the Power Drill picked up during LOCKDOWN.

Quick answer

You need two tools to get into the tunnel under your cell toilet: a screwdriver to unscrew the toilet's bolts, and a Power Drill to cut through the dirt walls below. The Power Drill is a free pickup from a workshop workbench during LOCKDOWN.

  • Screwdriver — crouch at the toilet base and choose Unscrew, then Move aside the toilet to reveal a vertical opening.
  • Power Drill — jump in with the drill and hold the left mouse button to keep cutting through the dirt walls.

Why the tunnel needs two different tools

The toilet tunnel in 13 Days to Escape is a two-tool job, and each tool does a separate part of it. The screwdriver deals with the toilet itself: crouching at the base lets you work on the bolts, and the game offers an "Unscrew" interaction there. The Power Drill deals with the ground: once the toilet has been moved aside and you are down in the vertical opening, the drill is what actually cuts a path through the dirt walls.

That split is worth keeping straight before you start. The screwdriver is what gets you into the tunnel; the drill is what gets you through it. If you are still assembling your loadout, the tools guide covers equipment more generally, and the digging guide follows the dig itself.

Getting the Power Drill during LOCKDOWN

In the recorded walkthrough, the drill is picked up during LOCKDOWN, and the route is slightly roundabout. Climb out through the cell window and sneak into the vehicle area behind the cell block. On the way you pass an open prisoner transport, where cash stacks can be collected, and continue on to a workshop marked with yellow-black hazard stripes. The Power Drill sits free on a workbench inside.

What the tunnel run leads to

Once you are down in the opening, holding the left mouse button keeps the Power Drill cutting through the dirt walls. In the same recorded run, that tunnel segment is followed by a black screen with typewriter text reading "Day 2", and the player wakes back into the ordinary loop: ROLL CALL, then sorting library books and delivering items such as #043.

Seeing the Day 2 screen right after drilling matches how the run played out on record. To see where this segment sits in the larger escape, the full walkthrough places it in order, and the prison routine page covers the daily loop you drop back into afterward.
